FCA US LLC has already confirmed that a Jeep® Wrangler Hybrid is in the works. However, the off-road SUV may not be the only model under the brand to get the hybrid treatment. There are now speculations that a Jeep Renegade Hybrid may also be in development.

Suspicions arose after spy photos revealed a prototype Jeep Renegade being tested in the fields. What was so peculiar was a shock warning sign on the windshield. Similar warning signs have been spotted on other test vehicles later confirmed to be getting a hybrid.

If the suspicions are indeed true, then it looks like the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid will be in good company. A Jeep Renegade Hybrid, though, will not share the same powertrain configuration as the minivan. More likely, it would utilize a 48-volt electrical system, which is also expected for the Jeep Wrangler Hybrid.

Hybrid rumors aside, there are also additional speculations of the Jeep brand adding another model to its lineup. This model will purportedly be even smaller than the already compact Jeep Renegade.

Jeep Spokesman Mike Manley confirmed that such a model is under consideration considering the rising trend of smaller vehicles in countries in Europe and Latin America. Of course, you can’t rule out that there won’t be a North America release if such a vehicle were to come to fruition.

Both the rumors of the Jeep Renegade Hybrid and a new smaller compact Jeep model should be confirmed or denied in June when FCA US LLC releases its five-year plan.
