Just because it’s still 2017 does not mean it’s too soon to talk about 2019 models. In fact, our Barrington Jeep dealership thinks there is much to discuss with respects to the 2019 RAM 1500.
Several camouflaged prototypes have been spotted on test roads. The latest rounds of spy shots, however, caught one very interesting detail: the pickup appears to have a split-folding tailgate.
The 2019 model will mark the next-generation for the RAM pickup series. Even if the tailgate isn’t split perfectly down the middle, it will certainly be a welcome modification. It’s split offset to accommodate the handle.
With the split design, the tailgate can open in one of two ways: outward like a double door, or down like the way seats can be folded flat in an SUV. You can visit Automotive News to see a pic of the split tailgate.
Previous photos reveal a few other details about the 2019 model. It appears RAM developers have removed the grille carried over from Dodge cars. It will sport an all-new grille with a set of rather futuristic looking headlights. As with the current model, multiple grille options will likely be available. For the interior, the dashboard and display screens will get a size boost.
The 2019 RAM 1500 is expected to make its debut in 2018, and perhaps even at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in January. In the meantime, if 2019 is too far off for you, then check out the 2018 RAM 1500. This model is making headways of its own, especially after announcement of an all-new limited-edition Hydro Blue color.
